In a year of many changes, we have welcomed Geoff Karran MBE as Patron following the retirement of Jack and Pat Corrin as President and Patron. Geoff is a very well known and respected figure on the Island having retired as a senior partner with leading law firm Dickinson Cruickshank & Co. In addition to his successful professional career, he is well known in sporting circles mainly as a cricketer who represented the Isle of Man as well as in many other capacities.
He was chairman of Isle of Man Sport, culminating in accepting the chairmanship of the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011 which is widely acclaimed as the highest profile global sporting event ever held on the Island outside of the TT. Geoff’s work in the charity field particularly relating to youngsters with learning difficulties is well known especially in connection with Project 21 which provides excellent and much needed premises and support in this area. We are delighted that Geoff has agreed to become our Patron. He has taken a real interest in the work of Cruse and made himself available to help and advise the charity on many occasions and we are looking forward to working with him.
